Carol Kerwin received her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Long Beach State College and a Masters in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. She began her engineering career as a Radar engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company where she designed electronic steering units for Radar antennas.
Carol then moved to Magnavox Electronics to work on GPS.. While there she worked to make the GPS sets able to interface with Army, Air Force and Navy vehicles, all of which had different methods and speeds of data transfers. In addition, she headed a proposal team and became the program manager of a parachute offset navigation system for the Special Forces.
After receiving her MBA she left engineering, Carol and her husband Bob Kerwin wrote a business plan, started and grew a small quick printing company with 2-color capability from start-up to $600,000+ in sales where they were known for their customer service. She still had her first customer as a client when she sold the business to her chief local competitor.
Carol Kerwin now spends her time volunteering at SCORE, an organization that helps new and existing businesses start and grow. She currently trains SCORE chapter members on social media topics and how best to use the database provided by the National SCORE organization as well as acting as the administrator and webmaster. Having written a business plan for her own small business, she works with the small business owners helping them create their business plans. She produces a 3 hour workshop monthly on Business Plans. She also holds a monthly workshop on current topics in business.
