Meet Angela Coté, Franchise Growth Catalyst

If you want to talk to someone who eats, sleeps and breathes franchising success, Angela is your gal.  Angela grew up with M&M Food Market, the iconic Canadian brand which she helped grow to almost 500 franchised locations.  She has done everything from dressing up as “Kelly Kabob” at grand openings as a child to helping get franchises trained and up and running across the country.  As a young female boss’s daughter in the field, Angela learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t!) when it comes to getting franchisees engaged with growing their business.

After many years on the franchisor side of the franchise relationship, Angela successfully brought the M&M Food Market brand to Vancouver Island, opening the first 3 franchises in less than 1.5 years and built them into a combined asset valued at more than $1.5 million.  Her stores surpassed original projections by 70% in the first year and exceeded corporate-wide revenue projections thereafter for 14 consecutive years.

In 2016, Angela launched her business as a Franchise Growth Catalyst and began working with early staged franchisors who needed help with where to focus their time, energy and money to get more streamlined growth.  Over the past few years her focus has narrowed in on two key areas:

  1. Helping franchisors find qualified franchisees
  2. Improving franchisee engagement

Within 2 years of launching, Angela won both the Douglas 10 to Watch Award and the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce New Business Award.  She has been featured on countless podcasts and has published numerous magazine articles all in pursuit of helping franchisors improve franchisee profitability.  She recently launched the “Franchise Growth Catalyst Podcast” where she shares unconventional yet practical advice on how to find the right franchisees, improve franchise profitability, create exponential growth, and make franchising FUN!

Angela’s current service offering ranges from her new franchisor “Play Bigger Performance Groups” to one-on-one advising for emerging and established franchisors.  She also speaks at franchise company conferences and she facilitates virtual roundtables for franchisees within a brand in pursuit of getting franchisees engaged to grow their business and follow systems.
